This is a controversial topic and I personally take a stand on the side of animal cruelty. The sad part for me is that I’ve seen cases where people with no business performing any type of medical proceedure ever do the ear cropping themselves. Without anesthesia and with tight rubber bands or scissors. It litterally breaks my heart.
Now, if you have “show dogs” and want to maintain the appearance of the breeds standard or historical appearance, that’s your choice. However, in my research I have found that the major kennel clubs in the United States don’t even require that type of proceedure or look to enter your dogs in the competition.
Floppy ears and long, sometimes wickedly strong, tails are the best!
